Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the re-signing of homegrown attacker, Jason Hoffman, for a further two seasons.

The contract extension means that Hoffman will remain in Newcastle until at least the end of Hyundai A-League 2021/22 season.

The 30-year-old is the only remaining player at the Club from the 2008 Grand Final success: Hoffman came onto the pitch as a late substitute in the 1-0 win over Central Coast Mariners.

Since making his debut back in that 2007/08 season, the 30-year-old has amassed 126 Hyundai A-League appearances for the Newcastle Jets across two stints with the Club.

Those 126 appearances rank him as the Club’s fourth-most capped player in the league.

“I grew up as a fan of the Breakers and the Jets, so to have signed an extension with my hometown Club is fantastic,” Jason Hoffman said following his putting pen to paper.

“My debut as a professional footballer was with Newcastle as a 16-year-old, I’ve been a part of two Grand Finals with the Jets and this is a Club that means a lot to me.

“I’m happy and proud to be able to play for Newcastle and I’m delighted to have my future secured in Jets colours.”

Newcastle Jets Head Coach, Ernie Merrick was pleased to have the veteran locked in for another two seasons.

“Jason is a very senior member of the playing group who commands a lot of respect, and rightly so,” Merrick said.

“We’ve seen that on a few occasions when he’s taken the armband, his leadership qualities on and off the field are clear to see.

“To have a player of his ability and versatility secured for the next two seasons is huge for the Club and I’m confident his football will only continue to improve.”
