Newcastle Jets can announce that attacker, Bernie Ibini has re-signed with the Club on a one-season deal.
Ibini first arrived at Newcastle in February and made an immediate impact under Carl Robinson, with the Jets faithful quickly warming to the attacker.
Since his debut at the Club under Carl Robinson in the Round 21 fixture against Perth Glory, Ibini has played six times for the Jets with one goal and two assists to his name.
That goal for Newcastle came in the season finale win over Wellington Phoenix, a rocket from outside the box which Jets fans will be hoping Bernie replicates under Robinson next season.
Speaking following his putting pen to paper, Ibini expressed his happiness at securing his future at the Jets.
“Scoring my first goal for Newcastle on Thursday night was a great feeling and getting the chance to spend another season here is, too,” the attacker said.
“I’m enjoying working under Carl again, and I’m confident he can continue to bring out the best in me.
“I’ve really felt the love from the fans since I joined the Jets and I’m looking forward to repaying it next season.”
Carl Robinson described the signing as excellent for the Club.
“Bernie is someone I’ve worked with before at Vancouver, he’s a good character to have in the locker room and he’s a great player,” Robinson said.
“He’s a very versatile player and he can play in multiple positions, which allows us more flexibility.
“We’re happy to have him locked in for next season and I’m excited for what he’ll continue to bring to the team.”
