This week has been filled with exciting announcements and events as we edge closer to the start of the season after an extra long pre-season.

This week has been filled with exciting announcements and events as we edge closer to the start of the season after an extra long pre-season.

Firstly we were at the picturesque Fort Scratchley for the announcement of Kloster Group as a sponsor of both the Jets and Knights via the Hunter Sports Group. It was great to have Knights’ players Akuila Uate and James McManus join our own Ryan Griffiths and Ruben Zadkovich in support of the Official Car Sponsorship announcement.

Since then, we have also announced sponsorship deals with Europcar and Drayton-s Family Wines. I want to thank all our sponsors for their support and look forward to sharing this season with each of them.

Our Members Only Season Launch at Ausgrid Stadium was a huge hit and it was fantastic to see so many of our Members in attendance. The team really enjoyed the opportunity to meet the Members, who were equally as excited about the start of the season, and look forward to participating in more events like this in the future.

During the Launch we were pleased to announce home-grown talent Jobe Wheelhouse as captain of the team this season. This is a fantastic decision and I know Jobe will do himself proud wearing the captain’s armband.

We held our Corporate Season Launch on Wednesday night at Honeysuckle Hotel. Honeysuckle Hotel were a wonderful host and we thank all our Corporate partners for their support. If you haven-t already, make sure you click here to watch roving reporter Tarek Elrich as he takes you behind the scenes at the launch.

Clayton Zane and Joey Peters, with the assistance of Alison Senkalski, are doing a good job recruiting players for our W-League team. After last week’s confirmation Matilda’s captain Melissa Barbieri had signed with the Club, today we announced striker and current Matilda Lisa De Vanna has also signed.

Whilst in the Youth League, it has been pleasing to see players from Craig Deans’ team step up during the pre-season and play exceptionally well when called into the senior team. I am looking forward to watching the Youth team play this season and am confident they will do well.

I am particularly proud that we have managed to secure the second highest number of Members in the A-League, with almost 9,000 Members already signed up. It isn-t too late to purchase your Membership package and I encourage you find out more about our membership by clicking here.

We are counting down the days until the season kicks off and hope to see as many of our Members and supporters at Ausgrid Stadium on Sunday October 8 for our game against Melbourne Heart. It has been a longer pre-season than normal but the team are looking to carry their strong pre-season form into the 2011/12 season.
