Fixture update: Heat forces changes to double-header

The Newcastle Jets have had their fixtures updated for this weekend’s double-header against Adelaide United, due to forecasted weather conditions.

As a result of high ambient temperature and Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WGBT) in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the Clubs have agreed to have the fixtures re-scheduled in line with the FFA Heat Policy.

The FFA Heat Policy states that drink breaks should be implemented if the WBGT is between 26 and 27.9 with consideration to delay and postponement if it exceeds 28.

The WBGT is predicted to be in excess of 28 at 4pm on Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium.

The Club’s Westfield W-League side will be the most significantly affected, with their match now rescheduled to Monday 31 December – kicking off at 9.30am (AEDT).

The early kick-off will ensure players avoid what are again predicted to be warm conditions.

The Newcastle Jets are finalising the location for the re-scheduled fixture, which will be at either McDonald Jones Stadium or No.2 Sportsground – with details to be confirmed as soon as they are known.

Previously listed as broadcast fixture on both Fox Sports and SBS Viceland, the match will now be streamed on foxsports.com.au and My Football Live.

In addition, the Jets Hyundai A-League fixture with Adelaide United will be delayed 30 minutes to avoid the heat, ensuring safe conditions for players and a comfortable environment for Members and fans.
