Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce centre-back Riley Warland will join the team on a two-year-deal.

The 19-year-old joins the Jets from Perth Glory.

Jets Manager Arthur Papas said; “We are pleased to welcome Riley to the Newcastle Jets for the upcoming season.

“We identified Riley as player who aligns with the way we want to play, a versatile defender who can play anywhere across the back four, composed on the ball and an outstanding athlete. We are excited Riley will be part of the Newcastle Jets.”

Aside from the A-League, Warland spent a season with English side Fulham where he played in their Academy side.

Since returning to Australia, the Australia U15s representative made his A-League debut last season, making five appearances with two as a starter.

“I have watched Arthur’s games in recent teams and know how he likes to play which suits me – energetic, high-press suits me,” Warland said.

“The move to Newcastle will be a good opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone.

“The support the Jets fans deliver is amazing and I cannot wait to start this journey.”

This deal sees Warland contracted to the Jets for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
