Left-back Dylan Murnane joins Jets

Murnane

Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Australian left-back Dylan Murnane for the upcoming 2021/22 season having joined from Finnish league champions HJK Helsinki.

The 26-year-old will bring plenty of experience and pace to the backline.

Manager, Arthur Papas said; “Dylan joins us having amassed considerable experience in Scandinavia over the last five seasons. He is a very attacking minded full back who will provide a real threat down the left as well as being equally as comfortable playing inside. We are delighted to have signed Dylan”

After leaving Melbourne Victory in 2016, Murnane headed to Europe where he played with sides from Norway and Finland.

In 2018, Murnane linked up with Norwegian club IFK Mariehamn and made 60 appearances during his two-year spell.

The left sided defender has linked up with the Jets on a one-year-deal.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Jets as I believe the club is building something special,” Murnane said.

“After speaking with Arthur about the football he wants to implement and the culture he wants to create it was an easy decision.

“Moving to Newcastle is a great opportunity for myself after being abroad for many years. I’ve heard many great things about the club and the city, so I’m looking forward to settling in and meeting the boys.

“I hope we can create a special atmosphere in Newcastle this season and I look forward to playing a high tempo attacking brand of football that all the fans will enjoy.”
