Injured Najjarine eyeing return against Adelaide

Ramy

The Newcastle Jets are hopeful of welcoming attacking midfielder Ramy Najjarine back for Sunday’s match against Adelaide United at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Najjarine has been sidelined with an ankle problem for the last few games and his return will go a long way in helping the Jets snap a three-game losing streak.

“Hopefully we can push him through a whole week,” Jets Coach Craig Deans said.

“And then we can have a good look at him.”

Deans conceeded the loss of Najjarine has impacted the number of chances the team has created in recent weeks.

“Ramy is a big loss, there is no hiding that,” he said.

“We need to be better; we need to find solutions.”

Coach Deans has handed Najjarine five starting opportunities this season and has shown his attacking flair in his forward role.

Najjarine hasn’t played since the Jets’ 1-0 away day victory over Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on 21 February.
