Port of Newcastle partners with Jets

Port of Newcastle has thrown its support behind the Newcastle Jets, joining the Club as an official partner for the 2021 A-League season.

Executive Chairman Shane Mattiske said; “It’s terrific to have a business which is a central part of the community join the Jets family.

“This partnership is a great example of local supporting local.

“Newcastle is home to the largest deepwater trading gateway on the East Coast and the Port enables NSW businesses to successfully compete in international markets with trade worth about $26 billion to the national economy each year.

“But Port of Newcastle is more than a port, it is an integral part of the current and future prosperity of our local community.

“Port of Newcastle will be proudly featured on the back of home, away and alternate playing shorts this season and the Jets look forward to forging a long and successful partnership.”

In discussions with the Club back to November, the launch of the partnership is timely with the A-League calendar in full swing.

Port of Newcastle CEO Craig Carmody said the partnership is a great opportunity for the Port to get behind our local team and support the community.

“As a local business we’re proud of what the Hunter stands for,” Mr Carmody said.

“The Jets are part of the fabric of this community and they need everyone to get behind them, both on and off the field. We’re proud to be part of the team.”

“We’re excited about what the future holds for our great region and we’re looking forward to lots of future success for the Jets. With the port’s deepwater shipping channel able to double its trade, significant port land available and enviable access to national rail and road infrastructure, Port of Newcastle is positioned to further underpin the future prosperity of the Hunter, NSW and Australia.

“As custodians of the Hunter region’s critical asset, Port of Newcastle is committed to supporting the community and diversifying its trade as it strives to create a safe, sustainable and environmentally and socially responsible port for current and future generations.”
