W-League: Deansy’s final squad of the season

Craig Deans has named his final squad of the Westfield W-League 2018/19 season, and it’s a strong one.

The only out from last weekend’s win over Adelaide United is Larissa Crummer, who suffered that horrendous leg break in the early stages.

There is a Westfield Matilda, Gema Simon, who will come into the squad into her place after sitting out last week due to a couple of niggling injuries.

FIVE THINGS: The Western Sydney talking points

Having played superbly on the left-hand side of defence this season, she’ll provide a bit of depth of Deansy and allow him to tinker with his formation if he sees fit.

Another woman who remained in Newcastle last weekend was Cortnee Vine, who was struggling with illness and wasn’t risked for the trip to Adelaide.

She’s back in the squad this weekend, and could slot in at the front end with the absence of Crummer who was wheeled out as an attacker last weekend.
