Newcastle Jets are delighted to announce the signing of three new faces to bolster the Westfield W-League ranks in 2019/20.

Along with the three on-field signings, New Lambton WPL boss, Keelan Hamilton will join Craig Deans’ backroom staff as an assistant coach alongside Ash Wilson.

Nicki Flannery and Annabel Martin headline the new faces in, the pair bringing with them considerable experience in the Westfield W-League and on the international stage – both played for Australia U/20s sides.

An attacking player joining from Canberra United, 20-year-old Nicki Flannery has featured 36 times in Australia’s top-flight with five goals to her name.

She’ll be joined by Annabel Martin, with the 20-year-old defender heading north from Melbourne Victory following a four-year stint which yielded 39 appearances in navy blue. In 2016, Martin also claimed Victory’s Player of the Year gong as a 17-year-old.

There is a local spice to the new arrivals also, with Craig Deans securing the signature of New Lambton flyer, Lauren Allan.

The attacker scored an incredible 33 goals in 24 appearances for the WPL premiership/championship-winning side in 2019 and will be hoping to replicate that form on the Westfield W-League stage.

“We’re really pleased with the quality of the recruiting we’ve been able to do, we’ve brought in a group of people who will really add to this group on and off the park,” Westfield W-League Head Coach, Craig Deans said.

“There’s W-League experience in Nicki and Annabel, and Lauren [Allen] has proved locally just how lethal she can be in front of goal.

“To have Keelan [Hamilton] come on board and act as a second assistant coach alongside Ash Wilson is also great, he’s done really well locally and we think he’ll add a lot to our backroom set-up.”

The Westfield W-League side will come together and begin training on Monday 14 October in anticipation of the 2019/20 season.
