The Newcastle Jets Westfield W-League side is set to head to Wagga Wagga in early November in preparation for the upcoming 2019/20 season.

Sunday 3 November will see the Jets take on Sydney FC in a pre-season friendly at McDonald’s Park in Wagga Wagga, with kick-off set down for 3pm.

Westfield W-League Head Coach, Craig Deans has been busy assembling his troops ahead of the coming campaign and said it’s a good chance to see his side in action against quality opposition.

“There will be a few new faces for us so it’s a good chance for everyone to further familiarise themselves with one another and get some valuable minutes into the legs,” Deans said.

“To play Sydney at that point in our pre-season in early November will help us get a feel for where we’re at with the season just a few weeks out by that point.

“To take women’s football out into an area like Wagga Wagga is great for the game and I know the girls will look forward to showing the locals just what they can do.”

Newcastle Jets CEO, Lawrie McKinna, said it was an indicator of the Club’s desire to reach out to football fans across the state.

“We’ve shown throughout the Hyundai A-League pre-season that as a Club, we’re keen to get out into regional areas and showcase high quality football where we can,” McKinna said.

“By taking our Westfield W-League stars to Wagga Wagga, we hope we can help inspire the next generation of female footballers.”

Ticketing information will be released in the coming days.
